Coronavirus Outbreak To Inflict A 100 Crore Loss To TV Serials, Movies, OTT: No Shooting From March 19- EXCLUSIVE
Coronavirus is going to make Bollywood, TV and OTT lose at least 100 cr in the next 15 days
It's coming to a grinding halt. Do whatever you can till Wednesday but life in Bollywood, OTT and TV sector will wear a deserted look from March 19, Thursday onward until March 31. That's the decision taken at the recently concluded meeting of FWICE, IMPPA and IFDC with producers.
"We have taken a call on the TV sector for sure. Bollywood and OTT I don't think have that much hurry to shoot, they don't have to deliver daily episodes. And as a precautionary measure, we are sure they won't shoot. As it is the entire release calendar has gone for a toss ever since the Corovirus outbreak happened," says J D Majethia, Chairman of IFDC, TV, EXCLUSIVELY to SpotboyE.com.
Added JD, "Look, we discussed in detail. But we finally had to come on a lockdown decision because who will take the responsibility if even one was to contract this deadly disease? Why take a chance? Are we really equipped to sanitise and thereby prevent people from acquiring it?
Exhibitor Akshay Rathi talking EXCLUSIVELY to spotboyE.com says that the loss incurred in the next 15 days if we take into account the shift in release dates, closure of shoots and theatres will be in the vicinity of 100 crore. |It's a very gloomy scenario," he adds.
A leading source tells SpotboyE.com, "We are in doldrums since January 2020. Now this. God knows where we are plummeting. The loss in 15 days will be more than 100 crore. And what is the guarantee that shooting will resume and things will normalise April 1 onward?"
Every preventive measure that is being taken in offices is a nought, this is not a fire that can be extinguished. These preventive measures, whichever taken, aren't fire extinguishers. We are talking about human life and their near and dear ones.
Federation of Western India Cine Employees President BN Tiwari had already sounded off, "When the government can close cinema halls, schools, and does not want people to go to crowded places, given the fact that our members often work on sets that are crowded, we are going to meet producers bodies and stop shooting for some time."
